Your Key Business Numbers

Any successful business tracks its key numbers.

Whenever I take on a new consulting client, anybody that I’m working with on our combat business programs. If they don’t know these numbers, I already know they’re not doing the best they could that we can increase their business exponentially.

So we’re gonna go over real basic and then look a little bit deeper.

Number one, Leads.

You have to generate leads. This is a daily requirement.

Leads have to be generated all the time.

This could be a website, events, Rhett cards, Facebook, Instagram. Anything.

We track our leads as ending as a phone number basically.

Name and email are okay but I want a phone number because we would call, we’ll text.

We’ll do anything we can to get in touch with our lead.

If you just get an email and if you have a good email list, you’re gonna get a twenty percent open rate. That means 80 percent of your leads are never gonna read your message.

You have to be able to reach them on all platforms.

We do not count as a lead unless we have a phone number. Also, we want the email too.

Lead is huge because leads feed your sales guys.

If you watched our previous episode, we talked about the importance of sales and how to get more sales.

You have to keep your sales team fed.

They need to have leads to work on so they can interact more people, help more people reach their goals, and push through the funnel.

Sales are huge.

I need to know my leads every month.

I need to know what my sales are and the part. The number that I love the most and that most people don’t track or keep track of is everybody cares about their girls which is just a vanity number is profits.

Profits are huge.

Profits equal money.

And we’re in this business for money — to make money.

Obviously, we love teaching martial arts.

We love helping people but at the end of the day, we have families to feed, kids to send to college, trips to take, tournaments to compete in, things like that.

And also making your facility nicer.

I’ll give you an example.

My system with profits run through is, I just remodeled the concrete in my gym.

I had that already done. I had one of my two matte areas part of it redone.

It cost me $13,000.

Back in the day, I’d have been stressed out. Put it on a credit card. Freaked out and I just go “Okay where are our profits? This quarter we’re here…

Boom!

All right cool we got this much in the account let’s do it.

So yes, I still put on the credit card to get my airline miles because that’s my airline hack and I’ll give you one of those in an upcoming episode.

But the profits make your gym better. People want a better gym.

They don’t want to see you having a ragtag gym.

And you’re going and doing things. But if you’re investing money into your gym, then you should be able to go ahead and do nice things.

People give me a hard time like “Oh well you’re doing consulting now and you got to talk about money, your students are gonna get mad at you.

It’s like if my student gets mad at me that I’m trying to be successful then they’re probably in the wrong gym.

Because my gym is all about breeding success.

I want to be a successful leader.

I want to have nice things. Go on nice trips.

But it’s not just about me.

When I do these things I make the gym better for them.

Every quarter we make, we do at least one improvement in the gym. Sometimes they’re huge like this quarter was 13 grand. Sometimes they’re small like new bags, new whatever.

But every quarter we’re doing something new. And that’s because I know my key numbers and I want you to know yours too.

Conclusion

This works in any business, you have to generate leads, so you know your “leads” number.

You need to get your sales guys so they can get their sales.

We’re trying to get 20 signups, 30 signups a month, 40 whatever. If you’re at five getting a 10. And I don’t care how small your gym is. Start off with one percent. You can go from one percent and you can build.

Your key numbers: leads, sales, profits.
